If I stand

Tonight I went blog surfing into the archives of a good friend who loves God. He had posted a Rich Mullins song that I have loved since I heard him sing it live at least 15 years ago. This whole song speaks to me today. There is so much more to life that what we see. It also reminds me that God's love is fiercer and gentler than any human love. What an awesome combo. I need to be reminded of God's fierce and gentle love for me, my family, all Christians, and for the lost.

There's more that rises in the morning Than the sun
And more that shines in the night Than just the moon
It's more than just this fire here That keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger Than this room
And there's a loyalty that's deeper Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes For the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver Of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise That you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man Who is longing for his home
There's more that dances on the prairies Than the wind
More that pulses in the ocean Than the tide
There's a love that is fiercer Than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's When her baby's at her side
And there's a loyalty that's deeper Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes For the allegence I owe only to the Giver Of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise That you will pull me through
And if I can't let me fall on the grace That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man Who is longing for his home
And if I stand let me stand on the promise That you will pull me through
And if I can't let me fall on the grace That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man Who is longing for his home
And if I weep let it be as a man Who is longing for his home
A great song is one that you can echo from the heart.

Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

God is on the throne...I'm not sure if it's pink

Hey, Sandy. We read your blog at work everyday. Today I read these two verses and thought of your situation. (not you specifically) John 2:15-16 from the Message: don't love the world's ways. don't love the world's goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world-wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important - has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him.

Who knows who's reading this....

"Well, sometimes y life just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
and my faith just seems so small

So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
you have been King of my glory
Won't you be my Prince of Peace..."
